Hi Baby Reid!
One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is getting to capture those first, fleeting moments of a new baby’s life—the ones that are raw, real, and filled with emotion. Recently, I had the honor of photographing my very first Fresh 48 session for my clients who had just welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Reid.
A few days before her scheduled induction, Jacie reached out to me about documenting their first day as a family of three. I was instantly thrilled—Fresh 48 sessions have been on my “dream shoot” list for a while now, and I couldn’t wait to bring this vision to life.
For those who might not be familiar, a Fresh 48 session takes place within the first 48 hours after birth, usually at the hospital or birthing center. It’s all about capturing the real and tender details—the tiny toes, the hospital bracelets, the first snuggles, and those sweet, sleepy newborn expressions before the whirlwind of everyday life begins.
When I arrived at the hospital, the room was filled with that unmistakable mix of excitement, joy, and peaceful quiet that follows a new baby’s arrival. Hospital lighting can be a little tricky (and sometimes unpredictable), but with some creative angles and a few tricks up my sleeve, we worked with it—and the results were simply magical. Reid was absolutely perfect, and seeing Jacie and her husband soaking in every moment of their new little boy melted my heart.
This experience confirmed something I’ve known deep down for a while—Fresh 48 sessions are truly special, and I’m so excited to now offer them to future families here in Sioux Falls at a special introductory rate.
If you’re expecting and want to remember those first precious hours forever, I’d love to capture your story. Let’s create something beautiful that you can hold onto for a lifetime.
