There’s something extra special about maternity sessions lately—and this one with Anna, her husband DJ, and their two sweet kids was no exception. As a Sioux Falls maternity photographer, I’ve had the honor of capturing so many beautiful expecting mamas recently, and I can honestly say these sessions have become some of my absolute favorites—especially after welcoming my own baby girl just 7 months ago. The connection I feel to this season of life is stronger than ever, and it’s such a joy to document it for other families.


For Anna’s maternity session, we met out at their property in Tea, South Dakota, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect spring day. Sunshine, warm temps, and nature showing off at its best. Their yard featured a dreamy willow tree and a flowering tree that were both in full bloom—ideal backdrops for soft, glowy portraits full of texture and warmth. We also spent time photographing near their rustic barn, which added the perfect touch of character and charm to their session.


The kids were full of energy and love, wrapping their arms around mama’s growing belly and sharing big smiles and belly laughs throughout our time together. DJ and Anna made it all look so effortless—surrounded by nature, family, and love, it felt like we were simply pausing time in the best way.
